William Gordon

Bill (Choppy) Gordon was born on November 2, 1930 in Cranbrook, B.C. and passed away suddenly on June 16th, 2010 at The Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, B.C.

Bill spent most of his childhood in Silverton. He married Marie Pigott of Nakusp in 1954 and they made their home in Nakusp for many years and raised their family there. Bill worked as a tugboater on the Arrow Lakes and was transferred to Castlegar in 1980 where they lived until moving to Victoria in May of this year.

Bill will be remembered by those who knew him for his sense of humour, funny expressions, strong opinions and stories that got better with each telling.

He was always larger than life and will be sadly missed.

Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie, their six children, Brett (Shirley) Gordon, Lynette Boser, Colleen (Paul) Bankes, Patrice Gordon, Nadine (Dennis) Jackson, and Bill (Terra)Gordon, eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also by his brother Ken (Nonie) Gordon and sisters, Esther (Hap) Sharpe and Joan (Erwin) Harkies as well as step sisters and brothers and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his parents and brothers Snooks Gordon and Doug Pengelly and one sister Barbara Pengelly. Also, two sons-in-law Marvin Boser and Todd Jubinville.

A memorial service will be held on July 31, 2010 at the Royal Canadian Legion hall in Nakusp from 2:30 P.M. All who know Bill are welcome to come and join the family in celebrating his life.
