Born in Rutberg, Sweden on October 18, 1908, the eighth of 11 children born to Brita and Per Skalk. Victor died peacefully on May 11, 2004.
He came to Canada at the age of 21 to work at the Cominco Mine in Kimberley. In 1942, he moved his family to Nakusp to work as a logger and farmer. Predeceased 6 months ago by his beloved wife of 66 years, Edna and by son David in 1975.
Survived by sister Svea Kyck in Insjon, Sweden, children – Marilyn Misutka, Shirley (Karmon) Mester, Ron (Cathy) Skalk, Naido (Lorne) Turner, Linda Kautzman, Susan (Joe) Flagel, James (Melanie) Skalk. There are 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He loved hunting, fishing and mushroom picking. He ran his trapline until he was 85. Until he got too deaf he played his accordion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arrow Lakes Hospital. Memorial service will be held later.
