E. H. (Ted) Dodge

May 8, 1921 to May 8, 2011

ed was born at Fort Saskatchewan, AB on Mother’s Day in 1921, and passed away surrounded by his loving wife and family at Minto House on Mother’s Day in 2011.

Ted and his parents moved to Vancouver in 1937, where he graduated from Lord Byng High School and joined the Canadian Bank of Commerce. He served in the Canadian Army overseas from 1940 to 1945, and on his return from overseas met Bobbi, his lifelong sweetheart when he returned to work at the Bank.

Ted and Bobbi and their three children moved with the bank to Grand Forks, then Greenwood, and then to Nakusp from 1958 to 1966. Nakusp captured their hearts and they returned to retire in 1976. Together they built their dream home, where Ted lived out his life.

Ted was an active contributor to many Nakusp activities, including the Hospital Board, Rotary, Arrowtarian Villas, and the Hospital Foundation.

Ted’s smile and unfailing willingness to support will be missed by everyone whose life he touched, but none more than his family, to whom he dedicated his love, time, and all of his resources all his life.

Ted is survived by his sweetheart of 64 years Bobbi, their three children Bill (Maryteen, Bellingham, WA), Rob (Grace, Nanaimo, BC), and Sue Christensen (David, Maple Ridge, BC), 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and his sister Dorothy Dickens (White Rock, BC).

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Lea and all of the staff of the Nakusp Hospital and Minto House for the skilled and tender care they gave Ted in the final phase of his life.

At Ted’s request there will be no services, but the family invites memorial donations to the Nakusp Library if you choose.
