Sylvia was born April 9, 1915 in Maidstone, Sask. and passed away in Vernon Jubilee Hospital Aug. 4, 2004 after a lengthy battle with illness. Her last three months were spent at Coldstream Meadows Retirement Home in Vernon. She was pre-deceased by her parents, William and Cora, her first husband Walter Haw in 1973, her second husband Alex James in 1993 and six siblings. Sylvia was a ‘self taught’ seamstress and will be remembered for all of her dress-making and beautiful quilts. She was a member of a softball team in Rossland and was an enthusiastic NHL fan. She was a “Stay at Home Mom” who was always there. She will be missed by all who knew her but not forgotten. Funeral Services were held at Robertson Memorial United Church in Nakusp August 9 with H. Bitten officiating, followed by a tea provided by the Church ladies. Cremation has taken place and internment to be in Glenbank Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Glenn Weatherhead for Valley Funeral Home. The Family wish to express their thanks to all. Donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Assoc. or R. M.
