August 17, 1932 - October 7, 2022
We sadly announce the passing of Phyllis Pigott (nee Bleakney) of Wetaskiwin, on October 7, 2022. Phyllis was surrounded by love before she passed away peacefully at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre. She was born Phyllis Doreen Bleakney on August 17, 1932 in Calgary, Alberta. She had just recently celebrated her 90th birthday.
Phyllis's rich life touched so many. Her presence and the imprint she left on us will comfort and fill our hearts with memories. She was well known for both her wisdom and her wit. Her family and friends were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from her during her 90 years.
Phyllis was known to many as a dear friend and active community member. An extraordinary baker, she won countless accolades for her delicious pies. She was a dedicated member of both the Nakusp Hospital Auxiliary and the Wetaskiwin Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Not a day went by where Phyllis didn't talk about how much her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant to her-- family was arguably the most important achievement in her life.
Phyllis was predeceased by parents, Arnold and Shirley Bleakney; brothers, Gordon and Clifford; sisters, Lorraine, Helen and Lorna and her son- in-law, Ron Carey. She is survived by her three sons, Lloyd (Christine) and Dean (Leona) Wilson, Jim Pigott and her daughter, Billi Carey; grandchildren Jaime, Christopher, Lacy, and Jody and three precious great-grandchildren, Carter, Asher, and Sawyer; and her sister, Gladys Fontaine.
Donations in Phyllis's memory are gratefully accepted to the "Wetaskiwin Hospital Foundation", note/memo: Wetaskiwin Auxiliary
A celebration of her life will be announced for the spring of 2023.
