Olive Agnes Wanstall

September 21, 1912 - April 27, 2009

Olive Agnes Wanstall, nee Orheim, passed very peacefully in Grande Cache Continuing Care (AB) on April 27th. Predeceased by her loving husband Charles, in 1975 she leaves her three children, Elaine Lindsay, Nakusp, Peter Wanstall (Greenwood) and Marie Taje (Chester) Grande Cache as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Born September 21, 1912 in Viceroy, Sask. She was predeceased by her sister Pearl, and leaves sister Elene (Edwin) Pollard in Lloydminister, Sask and brother Stan Orheim in Surrey, and brother Edolf (Irene) Orheim in Viceroy, Sask.

Many people of Nakusp will remember Olive for her expertise in decorating wedding cakes which were sent all over the world. Other cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, and raffle cakes were also very specially made.

Olive was a very caring person who loved children and was a great story teller. Olive was proficient at playing the violin, loved singing, was a wonderful seamstress, enjoyed reading if she had time, and when time permitted, painted with oils. Olive also loved animals, and many times, the neighborhood dogs and cats enjoyed many lazy days in Olives company when she lived at home. The young people used to stop by often and have tea and cookies with Olive. She loved to put on her classical music and  generally had a wonderful time chatting with anyone who came by.

Although she spent her last years in Nursing homes, she was often deemed a favorite with her peaceful demeanor and quiet countenance. She remained a beauty into her older years and was well loved by all those who cared for her. She will be sadly missed by all her family and many friends.

There will be a Memorial held in Nakusp at a later date.
