Norma Mary (nee Hoy) MARTIN

Norma Mary Martin (nee Hoy) died peacefully at the Westview Residence of Penticton Regional Hospital on November 26, 2004 surrounded by family; Norma was born in Vanderhoof on January 17, 1924 and lived in Fort St. James until she married Reo Martin in June 1944. Norma and Reo lived in various communities throughout BC before settling in the West Kootenays in 1957. In 1994 they left their home in Salmo and moved to the Okanagan to be closer to family. Norma is survived by her children, Reo (Carol) Martin, Louise (Alan) Burgart, Don Martin of Fort St. James, Brian (Bev) Martin of Kaleden, Roger (Mary-Lou) Martin of Summerland, Terry (Joanne) Martin of Nakusp, Bruce (Sis) Martin, Lynn (John) Kinsey, Ken (Cathy) Martin of Penticton, Gordon (Pam) Martin of Vernon; 28 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brothers Bob, Doug, Stuart and Neil Hoy; sister Bev Playfair as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Reo; sons Darryl and Patrick and sister Marion Rasmussen. A Memorial Service was held at the Penticton Yacht Club, 675 Front St., Penticton on Sat., Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Fort St. James at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC, 104-35 E. Westminster Ave., Penticton, BC V2A 1H7 would be appreciated.
