Mae Rattray, age 93, of Nakusp passed away on July 03 2011, at Minto House, Arrow Lakes Hospital, Nakusp, British Columbia.


Born in Hyas, Saskatchewan she was one of eight daughters of Frank and Elvina (Ericsson) Bergren. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, all of her sisters, her first husband, Eric Bjarnason and their son Eric (Ric). She is survived by her son Larry (Ruby) of Athol, Nova Scotia; her daughter Nola (Doug) Gardner of Nakusp; daughter-in-law Carolyn (Floyd) Lillies of Arrow Park and her stepsons Max (Marlis) and Brian (Maurice) of Edmonton AB. She also leaves behind grandchildren Kerry, Layne, Craig, Guy, Jay, Tony, Richele and Scott; 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by her special friend Edna Einarson of Vancouver, B.C.


Mae was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and loved to entertain. She was an avid knitter and seamstress. A one time employee of the Arrow Lakes News, she was actively involved with the local Rotary Club and Seniors Club. She formed many friendships in Hyas, Yorkton, and Churchbridge, Saskatchewan; The Pas, Manitoba; Winfield, Sicamous and Nakusp, BC and other places she lived and with people she met in Canada and abroad.
