Marie Butt
We said goodbye to Mom on Tuesday, October, 27th 2009 when she passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver B.C. (although she would have preferred Nakusp.) Marie (Mimi) was born on June 17, 1926 on the William Addison family farm. She grew up and attended school in Carberry and district. At the age of twenty, Marie married the love of her life Al, and their honeymoon brought them to Nakusp, where they fell in love with the community. They spent their lives together raising their family, building their business of thirty-eight years (Al’s Jewellery and Gift Shop), developing lifelong friendships, and being very involved in their community. While Marie’s priority was always her family, she also enjoyed volunteering with the Hospital Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary, and the church. Marie was predeceased by her cherished husband of 50 years in 1997, her parents William and Elsie Addison, her siblings Mary, Ivan, Dave, Cliff, Jock, and Frances. She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children Myrna (Wayne), Murray (Lori), and her grandchildren Michael, Erin (Mike), Cameron and Gordon. She also leaves behind a number of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many very close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday,
November, 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Robertson
Memorial United Church in Nakusp.
In lieu of flowers, Mom preferred donations be made to B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation, c/o Tribute Program, 938 W. 28th Ave., Vancouver BC V5Z 4H4 or a charity of your choice.
