In Loving Memory ~

The family of Larry Ross Fergusson are deeply saddened to announce his passing on the afternoon of Sunday, February 4th, 2024. He was 79 years of age and was surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born July 15, 1944, in Esterhazy Saskatchewan.

He was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Muriel Fergusson of Rocanville Saskatchewan, and brother-in-laws Gary and Narfi.

He is survived by his loving wife Dianne, his sons Dwayne (Susan) and Steven, his grandchildren Patrick (Katy) and Olivia (Brad), his great-grandson Archer, his sisters Marie Vigfusson and Lee Moffatt and aunt and uncle Vivian and Bruce Hyde and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

He enlisted in the Airforce at the age of 15 where he remained for 3.5 years, learning accounting which was a great passion of his until moving into sales and eventually relocating from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Nakusp BC where he opened a small hardware store in 1976 with constant wisdom and advice from his father in law, Don Head. A few months later they opened a Macleods hardware franchise.

In 1981 they rebranded as Home Hardware which is still family owned and run by his son Steven and grandson Patrick. In 2012, Larry and family opened a Home Building Centre also located in Nakusp, while Carol took over as manager of the downtown retail store.

Over the years Larry passed down an amazing work ethic to his children, grandchildren, friends, and extended family; still evident to this day.

Larry was a passionate Saskatchewan Roughrider fan, never missing a game. He passed on his love of his team to his sons and grandchildren. He also loved curling, golfing, hockey and was an avid poker player all while also ensuring his favourite grand dogs Shadow, Hope and Marty were always with his love. He was a fanatic of caring for "Larry's National Park" the property he loved and will forever be remembered for hunting his nemesis - the dandelion.

Larry you were the "Main Event" wherever you went and will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

As it was his wish to continue on with the family reunions, a celebration of life will be held in the summer as part of the 2024 Fergusson Family reunion in Nakusp, where all family and friends will be more than welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry's memory, to the Nakusp, BC Legion Branch 20 or the Canadian Cancer Society.
