Karl Fettig Neuls, 79, of Burton, BC, Canada turned on the lights April 23, 1932 and began his life in Custer, South Dakota to parents Gus and Clara Neuls. He later moved to Plummer, Idaho to marry Shirley E. Smith (Neuls) where they were ranchers and loggers.

He was great with a chainsaw and loved the trees, he knew every species there are and would test you on them. He was a fire wood addict. He and Shirley carried their love of life to Burton, BC, Canada when buying property in 1976, later moving there to continue his party.

He was an artist, craftsman, electrician, naturalist and the King of Sheds, many, many sheds. He loved nature and the earth, his deer, counting the birds at Christmas, the bears on the porch, the grizzlies in the meadows, the grizzlies in the chicken coop, the mountain lion on the porch, the moose in the ponds and the fish in the streams. He got into their heads and was one of the “Ole Duffers”.

He was a member of an elite group of nearly extinct folks who got it. Man and Nature living together. Those of us who shared his life learned to appreciate and love him and the earth. He will guide us forever.

He turned out the lights on August 26, 2011 leaving behind so many wonderful gifts of his love.
