May 9, 1929 - July 19, 2020
It is with deep sadness that we announce the one year passing of our dear father, Jack Gould, who died at age 91 on July 19, 2020.
Born in Vernon, BC, he spent his childhood in the hot Okanagan.
He married Shirley Holmes in 1955 and had three daughters, Michelle, Kathy, and Nancy-Lee.
Some of his favourite years, when they were living in Uclulet BC, were going to Long Beach, digging clams, shucking oysters, eating crab, enjoying beach fires and collecting glass balls from the Japanese fishing boats.
Sadly, Shirley, was killed in a car accident in 1966.
Some years later, he married Charlotte Cleghorn and had his son, David Gould, in 1971. They lived in Ladner BC, where he started the youth group, Uncle Jack's.
After 25 years with CIBC as Branch Manager in many areas of BC, and Loans Officer at Head Office in downtown Vancouver, he took early retirement and moved to Nakusp BC in 1974.
He was Village Clerk for the Village of Nakusp and bought property in Crescent Bay outside of town. He met and married Marjory Bishop in 1980 and together they built a log house and enjoyed life together until her passing in 2016. Twenty years ago he was instrumental in saving Box Mountain from being logged.
He is survived by his daughters Michelle Gould, Kathy Bouvette and Nancy Gould, son David Gould, sons-in-law Takis, Zane and Zubin, step-daughter Diana, step-sons Raymond and Gary, grandchildren Dominique, Yiannis, Alexis, Sara, Megan, Nauvme, Aidan and Saul, grandchildren Wyatt and Cedar, and several step grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He valued his lifelong friends, and his neighbours and good friends in Nakusp and at Seton Villa Retirement Home where he spent the last few years of his life.
He loved raw oysters, the hot sun, fishing in the Arrow Lakes, the forest, good food and music, wood, the snowy winters with fires in his log house, and is remembered for his adventurous spirit, sense of humour and how he enjoyed life.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and friendship towards our father in the many years of his life.
He was loved dearly and will be forever missed.
