In loving memory ~

Herald Arnold Friedenberger was born on April 9th, 1941 at home SE2 1712 Rural Municipality of West Burn, Manitoba, near Plumas.

His love of hunting and trapping started when he was a young boy in school, setting traps for muskrats and earning 2 cents a gopher tail.

At 17 he was on his own and running the family farm. In the fall of 1962 at the age of 21, he moved to Nakusp BC to find work, hoping to earn enough money to buy a combine for the farm. On March 30th, 1963, he married Alice Margaret Bowes and started a family. He continued to work as a logger for several years before forming his own company, H A Friedenberger Contracting Ltd in 1971.

He continued farming locally, at one point raising as many as 72 head of cattle. He purchased 3 traplines which he worked with his family. A well-known member of the community, Herald supplied hay to many throughout the valley. Always willing to lend a hand and always had a story to tell.

Survived by his wife Margaret, four children and 8 grandchildren. Karen; Harold( Tara: Matthew, Melissa, Rebecca), Gail Rowe ( Allan: Ambreyl, Chelsea (Jason), Lindsay), and Dan (Amy: Bryce (Abby) , Brooklyn).

Celebration of Life will be held on August 24th 2-4 p.m. at the Nakusp & District Sports Complex Auditorium.
