Gladys May Hill

Gladys May Somers was born in Monitor, Alberta on December 14, 1916, the third child of Arthur and Blodwyn Somers. She moved to Nakusp with her husband Vince Hill and daughters Audrey and Marjorie travelling by train and the SS Minto.

She passed away peacefully at the Arrow Lakes Hospital with her loving family at her side on April 20, 2011.

She is survived by her three devoted daughters Audrey (Arnie), Marjorie and Beverly and by her sister-in-law Nancy Tainsh and many beloved Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and Great-great-grandchilden as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Vince, son Ronald and grandson Jason.

She was "Gramma" to many, related or not. Gladys was always a welcoming hostess to anyone dropping in and an excellent cook. She had many interests during her life time including camping, fishing, snowmobiling, volunteering, playing cards, and could take on any kind of needlework. She loved watching the birds at her feeder and growing her flowers.

We are left with a lot of great comforting memories of a mom, grandmother and friend extraordinaire.

There will be no formal service by her request.

Memorial donations in honour of Gladys may be made to Rotary Villa.
