In loving memory ~

Long-time Nakusp resident, Edgar Koth, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 1, 2024 in Hope, B.C. Originally from Germany, he studied sociology and psychology at the University of Berlin, but always felt drawn to the wilderness and natural beauty of North America, and in the late 1970s, he and his wife, Margarete, immigrated to Canada. They first lived in Alberta, where their two sons were born, but after a holiday in BC, they fell in love with the town of Nakusp, and decided to settle there in 1986.

Edgar will be remembered for his gregarious spirit, his many stories, and his fondness for having long conversations with people from all walks of life. Many local residents will doubtless remember seeing him on his frequent visits to the hot springs, and his daily walks around the Wensley Creek trail system near his home in Brouse.

Edgar was 81 years old. He is survived by his wife Margarete Kappus, and his two sons, Bernie and Oliver.
