September 3, 1945 - September 17, 2022
Carol Alice LaFrance (White) was born on September 3rd, 1945 in New Westminster, BC and passed September 17, 2022 in Nanaimo BC
After high school she was a graduate of the first LPN program and worked at the Royal Columbian Hospital. She fell in love with and married Emil LaFrance and in 1973 moved to Nakusp BC with her parents and brothers after purchasing the Leland Hotel and running that until 1975.
An adventurous spirit, Carol enjoyed traveling and partook in a variety of active hobbies. Her favorite thing was her winter trips to Yuma with her cousin and best friend Jean Finnigan where they enjoyed their last 20 winters playing shuffleboard, cards and the commaraderie that came with being part of the snowbird community down south...
In 2003 she moved to Nanaimo BC and shared a large home with her son and his family where she was blessed to watch her grandchildren firsthand grow into adults.
She passed away on her own terms surrounded by her son, her daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and her two beloved dogs Tia and Luna on September 17, 2022 in her home in Nanaimo, BC at 1:30pm.
She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Eric White, her beloved husband Emil LaFrance, and her treasured youngest brother Jim White.
She is survived by her son David LaFrance (Sharon) and her grandchildren Amanda Maetche, Elijiah LaFrance, Paige LaFrance, her brothers Bob White (Caroline) and Billy White (Shelley).
She was loved by all and will be missed dearly and remembered fondly, especially when cards are played as she was always up for a game or 2...
Many thanks to all the friends and family that offered support in her final weeks and especially to the doctors and nurses that make the MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying) program the blessing that it is.
By her request there will be no funeral or memorial service, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to any fitting charity in her name.
