A Nakusp resident was killed when the snow plow he was driving went off the road near Trout Lake earlier this week.
The incident occurred on Monday, Nov. 14, sometime between 7 and 9 a.m. on Highway 31 near Trout Lake. Barry Mayer, 60, was sanding the roadway when the HMC snow plow he was driving came too close to the edge and slid down the steep embankment, Nakusp RCMP said.
The plow rolled several times and Mayer was ejected from the vehicle. Mayer was located by a local hunter and was deceased at the scene.
The accident is being investigated by the Nakusp RCMP, West Kootenay Traffic Services, BC Coroner Services and WorkSafe BC.
