School District 10, Nakusp Secondary School and Nakusp RCMP have been made aware of an unsubstantiated threat to the school via the social media video platform YouTube. The RCMP stated in a release to the Arrow Lakes News that “the investigation has determined that the threat does not appear credible,” however RCMP are continuing to work with the local school district to ensure safety of all students and faculty.

The threat stems from a comment written on a post of a short YouTube video which was made by NSS teachers for the students as entertainment. The issue was brought to the attention of administration and authorities on Wednesday and parents were alerted on Thursday. The video has since been removed, and all comments along with it.

Superintendent Terry Taylor spoke with the News, “ We take all threats seriously and do everything we can to ensure the safety of students and employees.”

Classes at NSS have not been affected.

If anyone has any additional information they are asked to call Nakusp RCMP at 250-265-3677.
