RCMP are reminding motorists to beware of changing road conditions after a logging truck spilled its load on Highway 6 near New Denver.

On March 2, a tractor and trailer travelling south on Highway 6 near Jacobs Road in New Denver lost control when failing to negotiate a curve in the road.

The vehicle ended up on its side, and the load of logs came off the trailer, rolled down the embankment and damaged a power pole.

The driver of the tractor was taken to hospital by ambulance with minimal injuries.

The incident and cause of the accident are still under investigation.

“We would like to remind motorists that the road conditions are changing quickly at this time of year with freezing and thawing of roads, please take care especially when travelling through curves and shadowed roadways as road conditions can change unexpectedly,” said Slocan Lake RCMP Cpl Jaime Moffat.
