Debris on the highway 40 km from Nakusp between Burton and Fauquier, close to Reveller road near the Burton flats, has closed the highway. A mudslide that occurred overnight covered the road with several metres of debris along a 100 metre stretch of road. A crew including a D8 Cat and two excavators are working to open the highway, and updates will be posted on www.drivebc.ca
"We expect to have the road open to single land alternating traffic this evening," said Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure's Kate Trotter on Wednesday, May 22 afternoon.
