Monday January 24 is the date set for the fifth meeting of Nakusp and Arrow Lakes Economic Summit, focusing on Agriculture. Guest speakers are Abra Brynne, a farm and food consultant who is connected across the province with farmers and farm organizations; and Jeremy Lack, from Kootenay Local Agricultural Society and Mad Dog Farm. Corky Evans, former Minister of Agriculture and current Slocan Valley farmer will also be on hand. Local farmers will bring their expertise to the panel.

This meeting will be an opportunity for farmers and non-farmers to get together and discuss the future of agriculture as an industry and for food security. Do you have a plot of land you’d like to farm? Do you wonder where your food comes from? Are you interested in local food production? Are you already farming and have some ideas about how local agriculture can be better supported? This meeting is for everyone.

Meeting to take place at the Nakusp Legion Hall starting at 7 p.m.
