A missing bear has returned to its rightful place in the hands of Castlegar Sculpturewalk.

Hibernation Dream, a carved wooden sculpture by Rossland artist Lars Baggenstos, was temporarily sitting outside of the organization’s storage container near the Millennium Dog Park when it disappeared.

The sculpture was in the process of being returned to the artist after spending a few years on display in Castlegar.

“We really need him back, no questions asked,” Castlegar Sculpturewalk said in a Facebook post.

So when they were contacted by email from someone who said they had the sculpture, they kept their word. Someone from Sculpturewalk went and picked up the piece and didn’t ask a single question. So it will remain a mystery how the heavy sculpture that takes several people to move it was transported, where it went and who had it.

It’s yet to be seen if the bear selected a new hibernation spot for his winter dreams during his recent travels.
