Cranbrook RCMP says an alleged bomb threat at a local business appeared to be unfounded after conducting a thorough air and ground search on Friday.

Multiple police vehicles were on site at Cranbrook Dodge and adjacent businesses, as RCMP’s General Investigation, Crime Reduction and Police Dog Service investigated the incident.

Traffic flow was affected on Willowbrook Rd. and Cranbrook St. N, while Ridgeview Rd was blocked halfway down the street towards the affected businesses.

Employees were evacuated out of an abundance of caution, according to Sgt. Christopher Dodds, the acting detachment commander.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience and the media for their assistance while we worked to safely resolve this situation,” Dodds said. “We recognise traffic interruptions may be frustrating but assure you they were necessary to ensure the safety of all those involved.”
