UPDATED: Driver dies in highway accident at Beasley

A man died in a single-vehicle accident on Feb. 18 in on Highway 3A at Beasley near Nelson.

An RCMP news release states that officers arrived on the scene in the 5000 block of the highway to find a Toyota Landcruiser 60-to-70 metres down an embankment.

The driver, who had been ejected from the vehicle, was found a short distance away and pronounced deceased by paramedics.

The BC Coroners Service staff were in attendance, and there was no indication of the involvement of drugs or alcohol.

The victim, 37, was the subject of a missing persons report issued by the RCMP on Feb. 17. He had travelled to Nelson with his wife from El Paso, Texas, and was reported missing by his wife after he had left a residence where they were staying in South Slocan.

The next morning a friend of the missing man phoned Nelson RCMP to report that the man had been involved in a single-vehicle accident at Beasley.
