Revelstoke is getting ready and excited to celebrate BC Trails Day on June, 1, according to a press release from the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC (ORCBC).
The annual event is a province-wide celebration with the goal of highlighting the importance of trails and outdoor recreation. According to ORCBC, outdoor recreation is integral to the physical, mental and environmental health of our communities.
The event will feature more than 60 community events across the province such as group hikes, rides, cleanups, camp-outs, and educational sessions.
“We are thrilled to see BC Trails Day grow each year, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate and care for our incredible trail systems,” said Louise Pedersen, executive director of ORCBC.
The Revelstoke Cycling Association (RCA) will also be hosting an event, the RCA Dig Day on June, 1 where cycling enthusiasts can learn how to work on a section of the trail, and then go for a group ride. Those interested can reach out to the association at info@bikerevelstoke.org.
“Our BC Trails Day Dig Event is a great chance for people to get their hands a little dirty and learn what it takes to maintain our world-class trail network. It’s extremely satisfying to ride on a section of a trail you worked on,” said Alex Cooper, executive director of RCA.
