The Slocan Lake Early Learning Society is bringing back two fundraisers for the dozen preschoolers at its New Denver Nursery School, with flower orders open until April 24 and a bike-a-thon scheduled for May 6.
The Georama Growers Garden Centre in Nelson will supply flower baskets for the younglings to sell to their loved ones, ahead of Mother's Day on May 11.
Actual delivery of the hanging flower arrangements happens May 6, at Eldorado Square's Toddle-a-Thon bike bash, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
New Denver Nursery School, which has operated for 47 years, says this cycling fundraiser is a years-old tradition it's pedalling to keep alive for its preschoolers.
Currently, "There are 12 children attending the preschool, benefiting from the very rich, dynamic, outdoor-oriented programming delivered by three passionate educators," the school wrote in a release, thanking the community members and municipalities that have continued over the years to support these fundraisers.
"We will be digging out the old signs and walking from the school, singing our way to the downtown core," the school added.
"The children will then hop on their bikes and do laps, which they are getting sponsors for this month. You will be able to sponsor the children the day of the event as well. We will also have free popcorn and drinks for anyone purchasing a $5 membership with the (Slocan Lake Early Learning Society)."
Flower orders can be placed until Thursday, April 24, using one of the forms available at the Lucerne Elementary Secondary School office or preschool room, as well as at Canada Post, Insurance HUB, Valley Voice and Silverton General Store. Families can also order via Facebook.
