The West Kootenay Cancer Survivor Tea will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Trail United Church Hall.

“We tried holding the tea in December last year and found the weather unpredictable,” said Heather Kennedy, chairperson of the tea.

This year, the Mystic Dream Dancers will be performing, and Kennedy is grateful for the support from sponsors and the community.

“The tea is free for all cancer survivors and their caregivers,” said Kennedy.

“We are so fortunate that our sponsors have donated so that every cancer survivor receives a gift at the tea.”

Kennedy, a cancer survivor herself, looks forward to attending the event.

“Jenny Murray was our angel who organized and ran the tea,” said Kennedy.

When Murray needed help, Kennedy stepped in. After Murray’s health declined, Kennedy and her team of volunteers took over the event.

Murray has since passed away.

“I think Jenny would be happy to see the tea continuing and growing,” said Kennedy.
