UPDATE: Queens Bay wildfire now being held

On the evening of May 8 the fire was reported to be 2.3 hectares in size

Queens Bay is about 38 kilometres northeast of Nelson on the shore of Kootenay Lake. The location of the fire is shown in red.

The 2.3-hectare wildfire near Queens Bay on Kootenay Lake, previously announced as out of control, has been downgraded to the "being held" category, according to the Southeast Fire Centre.

According to the SEFC, the fire is smouldering on the ground with no open flames. The fire has been fought by 10 firefighters since it was discovered on May 8.

The fire, located 0.4 km from Highway 31, is not threatening any structures.
