The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) emergency operations centre has removed the evacuation orders and alerts for properties affected by the Spaulding Creek fire in Christina Lake.
No homes were lost in this fire.
“We are grateful to fire crews for their quick response to this event,” stated Mark Stephens, Emergency Operations Centre Director in a news release. “We are also thankful to Red Cross volunteers for establishing a reception centre so promptly.”
He commended affected residents for their cooperation and for following all evacuation orders.

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary has downgraded some evacuation orders for the Spaulding Creek Wildfire in Christina Lake.
A notice stated evacuation orders for residents on Caitlin and Kensington Roads are now on evacuation alert.

A wildfire in Christina Lake has shut down Highway 3 and evacuation orders have been put in place.
A notice from Emergency Info BC stated the Regional District of Kootenay-Boundary has placed evacuation orders for all properties on Brown Road, Kensington Place, and Caitlin Road due to the Spaulding Creek wildfire as it poses a threat to human life.
Affected residents are to head to Highway 3 using McRae Road and go to Christina Lake Community Hall, 90 Park Road.
The highway has been shut down and traffic is being rerouted either to Castlegar, or Grand Forks. Motorists are being advised to not travel to Christina Lake at this time.
Fire Crews from Christina Lake and Grand Forks, as well as BC Wildfire Service are battling the blaze.

“This is a dynamic situation,” said Mark Stephens, EOC Director. “Local and BC Wildfire Service crews are on the scene. Please listen to responders as evacuation orders are issued.”
