We express a special thank you to the public who turned out to the 2010 Wellness Festival as well as each festival since the first in 2007. Your continued support demonstrates the festival’s success. In showcasing the variety of knowledgeable health practitioners and organizations that provide a wide range of services we have been able to provide you with more opportunities for enjoying life.

When we speak of wellness the vision is one that encompasses all aspects of one’s life; nutritional, recreational, spiritual, social, physical, and emotional. Enveloped in this is the sense of family and community.  We have a strong traditional medical structure which we all support and strive to maintain, and we also have a vast alternative health conscious community of practitioners and merchants.

The Celebration of Wellness mission statement is: “We envision a community of empowered individuals who have an understanding of all the wellness options and resources available for attaining a healthy Mind, Body, and Spirit; thus creating a legacy for future generations to make informed choices regarding their health and wellbeing.” Over the past several years the focus has been to provide a large interactive forum where the public could investigate and experience a range of healthy living opportunities and choices. This has been successful for its design of providing informed practical experiences and connecting practitioners together but needs to go further to provide ongoing easy accessibility to these services.

Our next step in supporting this mission statement is to invite all wellness practitioners together to discuss a changing platform, one that could be continuous in supporting wellness in the community. Our hopes are to develop an association that serves this mission statement. The purpose of this association is to increase awareness of practitioner abilities, expertise and to connect practitioners to resources, advertising, communication and support. Providing ongoing opportunities for the community to participate is one objective but just as important is to ensure easy access and availability through strategies that keeps everyone informed and knowledgeable about all aspect of wellness in our lives and in our community. We can accomplish this by having like minded individuals come together for a common purpose, that being to serve the entire community by providing choice in everyone’s endeavour for safer, healthier living.

We will be holding a community meeting on April 23 in the NaCoMo Centre. All Wellness practitioners are encouraged to attend and bring a friend.
