Nakusp Secondary School Student Awarded Prestigious Scholarship

A Nakusp Secondary School (NSS) student has been awarded a prestigious scholarship. 

Sadie Wright, a recent graduate of NSS was recently awarded a scholarship of $45, 000 to support her post-secondary studies. The scholarship was awarded to Wright by The Cmolik Foundation.

The scholarship recognizes students who have been able to reach scholastic success in the face of adversity. The selection committee said that they were impressed with Wright's academic goals and future career aspirations. Wright plans to pursue a bachelor of science degree, with a concentration in foods and nutrition. 

Tessa Wiseman, a school counsellor, and teacher at Nakusp Secondary said, “Sadie is one of the most incredible young people that I have ever had the privilege of working with. She is engaging, responsible for herself and others, attuned to others, kind to the core and is a gifted learner.” 

As for the graduate, Wright said of her chosen career path, “I have chosen to become a registered dietitian. I am enrolled at the University of Prince Edward Island for, a Bachelor of Science, majoring in foods and nutrition. My mom has always been educating me about nutrition and she is my inspiration towards this career.”

The Cmolik Foundation is rooted in its belief that education has the power to transform a student's life journey. Besides providing funding to its scholarship recipients, the foundation also provides students with a mentor, a community of scholarship peers and alumni, and access to special events and professional opportunities.
