Nakusp Elementary School parent advisory council members sorted bottles last week for their fourth drive this year. Thanks to the support of Arrow and Slocan Lakes Community Services and the Return if Forward program they are raising money to support fine arts and music programs at the school. The PAC’s role, to advise the school board from a parental position, is integral to keeping communication between parents and those providing their children’s education ongoing.

To date they have raised over $1,200 and look forward to raising more funds with one more sorting date in August. It was hot and sticky work with many PAC members in attendance. A few NES students were on hand to help out as well. Despite it being summer holidays, it’s a reminder that the work doesn’t stop for everyone and PAC is working all year round to support students. PAC is always looking for parents to join and looks forward to welcoming new members in September.
