Music and food programs gets a boost

Members of the Nakusp Elementary School Parent Advisory Committee were on hand to receive a financial contribution to assist with their programs at the school. Community Services and Nakusp PharmaChoice awarded the PAC with funds earned volunteering for the recycling program Pay it Forward. The monies will be used for music and food programs.

Colleen Scissons, Community Works/Social Venture Coordinator with Arrow & Slocan Lakes Community Services said, “They [the PAC] came in three different times for a couple of hours and worked their buns off so with an accumulation of the three times they came, we are giving them a cheque for $1,250.00.”

Sandra Watt PAC Chair, Aiden McLaren-Caux, Director and Kate Grout-Lario, PAC member were in attendance at the cheque presentation held beside the Return it Forward bottle collection trailer. Watt said, “We are fundraising to enhance music appreciation at our school.”

They are enlisting musical people to donate their time. McClaren-Caux said, “We are looking for community members to contribute their time towards the music program.”

Troy and Jody Clark, owners of PharmaChoice also made a donation to match a portion of the earnings to assist with piloting a meal program tha tis in the works.
