Eric Lawson has worked in community media for 30 years as a reporter, editor, sales manager, general manager and publisher. He has worked and lived across Canada; prior to joining Black Press he was publisher of the Brandon Sun in Brandon, Manitoba. Lawson has been involved in community organizations throughout his career, including Rotary, the YMCA, Chambers of Commerce, and support for animal shelters. He has also been active in industry associations such as the Flyer Distribution Standards Association and Newspapers Canada.

John is a veteran of 20-plus years in journalism. He worked with many community newspapers in Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario. He was also the digital news editor with the Winnipeg Free Press and the Edmonton Journal. John enjoys hiking, following the Winnipeg Jets, curling, and playing Rock Band.

A relative newcomer to the Kootenays, John has more than 30 years’ experience as a reporter and producer. He’s worked in newspapers, radio, and television, and helped pioneer online journalism at the CBC.
John has covered local, regional and national news in Manitoba, BC and the Yukon during his career. He is also an accomplished painter and especially enjoys painting outdoors, capturing the beauty of this land. An avid gardener, hiker and biker as well, he lives with his wife and son in the Slocan Valley.

Having lived in some of the most beautiful towns within the Kootenay and Columbia region, Chantelle has set her gypsy roots and decided to call Nakusp her home. She loves the lifestyle, scenery, friendly people and the tightknit community that Nakusp offers. When a position became available for an office manager/sales associate for the Arrow Lakes News, she jumped on the opportunity. She loves learning new things, working closely with members of the community, meeting new people, and helping businesses achieve success. She has also written The Happy Forager and The Happy Homemaker columns for the paper. She is kept busy with her two teenage children, and is on the Chamber of Commerce board, the Nakusp Golf board, and school PAC. In her free time she enjoys all things outdoors and climbing into bed with a good book.
