Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Dave passed away peacefully on April 3rd 2010, at the age of 91. Dave was born on

February 13th,1919 in Nakusp B.C. to Kate and Earnest Johnson and was married to the love of his life, Doris Harvey, for the past 69 years. Dave became the Canadian champion pole vaulter in his teens and remained an avid sports enthusiast, encouraging his son Barrie through to an international level of track competitions, such as the Pan Pacific games in Japan. Dave opened the first independent meat market within Overwaitea Foods in Nakusp, and later in his career moved to Nelson to open Dave’s Meat Market on Baker St.


Dave and Doris retired first of all to Nanaimo where Dave enjoyed his involvement with The Tidesman Barbershoppers. He loved Music, and singing. They later moved to Vancouver. Dave was a wise, peaceful, fun loving man who loved his family dearly, and will be sadly missed by his wife Doris, daughters Teresa (Ron), and Cheryl (Peter), daughter in law Debbie, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dave was predeceased by his son Barrie, his grandson Brett, and sister Ellen.


A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Hillside Community Church, 1393 Austin in Port Coquitlam at 12 noon, Saturday April 10th, 2010.
