Have you seen Kyung Chun? The 71-year-old Burnaby man went missing south of Revelstoke a week ago while mushroom picking in the bush.

Nakusp RCMP want the public's assistance to find Kyung Chun, a 71-year-old Burnaby resident who went missing last week while picking mushrooms in the Fosthall area with a partner.

Fosthall is located south of the Shelter Bay ferry terminal and accessed by logging road.

Police first became aware of a situation on Thursday, Sept. 12, when passing campers reported that Chun's van appeared to be stuck. It hadn't moved in five days.

Chun's picking partner filled in the story from there, as he related it to Chun's family.

The partner said Chun went mushroom picking, but never returned. He said he waited for Chun near the van, then made his way back north, eventually hitching a ride to Revelstoke. He then returned to the Lower Mainland, where he informed Chun's family of the van stranding and Chun's disappearance.

It was only after that point that authorities were notified that a mushroom picker was missing in the woods.

The RCMP are still seeking to speak to Chun's partner.

A small search was mounted on Thursday, and a larger search began on Friday, Sept. 20.

Sgt. Darryl Little of RCMP's Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment said police are concerned. Chun is said to suffer from health issues and has been missing for over a week now.

Given some of the unusual circumstances already, the police are looking for your help.
