Edgewood resident facing assault and gun charges

An Edgewood man is facing 12 charges that include assaulting the same person three times, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, holding four unlicensed weapons and storing four unlicensed weapons contrary to the firearms act.

Brock Chivers is charged for events police say happened on Sept. 13, 2010 as well as one count of assault between Aug. 31 to Dec. 1, 2009, another count of assault between July 1–31, 2010 and one last assault on Sept. 13, 2010 all against the same victim.

At Nakusp Provincial Court last Thursday, Feb. 24, Chivers plead not guilty to all charges and has been scheduled to appear March 30 to fix a trial date.

Court documents state Chivers committed an assault near Edgewood on Sept. 13.

The documents also list the unlicensed firearms which include a Colt Combat Commander Pistol, a Ruger Super Redhawk Pistol, a Marlin Lever Action Rifle and a Winchester Defender shotgun. Each weapon represents a separate charge.

There are also four counts of improperly storing these weapons.
