For the first time in the Kootenays, Sara Rainford is showing her adventure series photography in a show entitled “X” at the Hidden Garden Gallery, August 6 to 13 with a reception on Tuesday, August 7, 7 to 9 p.m.
“X” could stand for xplore, xtreme, or xcite, all of which describe this series of photographs. Sara started her photography career after a two month climbing trip in South America, where she attempted to climb Aconcagua.
Upon her return, Sara entered a photo taken in Bolivia, into the 1998 Banff Mountain Photography Competition. It won the Grand prize that year and launched her career as a photographer.
The Hidden Garden Gallery, 803 Kildare Street, New Denver, is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
