Why have you decided to take part in the Arrow Lakes Ambassador Program?

I decided to take part in the Arrow Lakes Ambassador Program because I saw how much more confident the candidates and reigning royalty of 2016 became both on stage and in person. I would really like to feel more confident and comfortable around people I am not close to.

What expectations do you have from this program? (What would you like to get out of this program?)

I would love to gain a better ability to speak in public from this program. Whether it be in front of a large group or even just a single person, I would love to overall just be more sure of myself.

How long have you lived in the Nakusp area? Tell us about your family.

I have lived in Nakusp my whole life. I live with my wonderful parents Barb Lewis and Rod Morrison. They are both gym teachers, but my dad is retired. I don’t have any siblings, although I do have two dogs named Domino and Hoover. My best friends Tara and Jamie are also kind of like my sisters.

What are some of your hobbies, interests, plans, and dreams? What do you plan to do when you graduate from high school?

I enjoy most sports including volleyball, soccer, dance, and skiing as well as kayaking and hiking, and other outdoor activities.

When I graduate high school my dream would be to attend the University of Hawaii on Oahu and get my medical degree to become a pediatrician or pediatric surgeon.

Do you have a job? If so, where do you work and what do you do?

In addition to babysitting and volunteering to coach minor soccer and Nancy Greene, last summer I had a job co-facilitating a summer day camp sponsored by Recreation Commission Number Four. I helped entertain and care for up to 16 kids a day.

Have you travelled anywhere? If so, where did you go? If not, where would you like to go?

I have travelled to two Hawaiian islands, Oahu and Kauai. I have also been to Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, as well as Disneyland in Anaheim, California a couple of times. All of these trips were so amazing!

In the future, I would like to travel to Europe and Australia too.

Last but not least, give us your thoughts on “Living on the Arrow Lakes”.

Living on the Arrow Lakes for the past 15 years has been great. I love how close knit the town of Nakusp is, and in helping with sports and other club programs I have been able to get to know people in a way that would be difficult in a big city. It’s nice knowing everyone and it makes you want to be seen in a good light, as everyone know you too. When I leave I’m sure I will miss Nakusp, but I can’t wait to see what else the world has to offer me.
