The Arrow Lakes News is based in the forestry community of Naskusp, but its coverage extends to the villages of Burton, Arrow Park, Fauquier, Edgewood, New Denver, Silverton and Trout Lake. It is published Thursdays, with a circulation of 1200.
The Arrow Lakes News was founded in June, 1922 by Frank S. Rouleau, continuing a tradition of upstart publications in the area, like the Slocan Record and the Kaslo Claim. Most were short-lived, but the News endured. A year later, A.B.S. Stanley took over the paper and it remained in the family for 72 years.
The Arrow Lakes are a recreational playground in British Columbia's West Kootenay mountains. The area is know for its hot springs, hiking trails and fishing.
